hey all i've got a problem
as the title says my mic has stopped working and i'm utterly clueless to what has happend. it was working untill a week ago when i pulled it out to clean off the computer. now last night i plugged it back in for the raid and after talking to myself for 3 hours the others told me i had been talking to myself. today i've been trying to figure out the problem without luck.

here's the details.
-the mic is in a headset that requires mic port, sound out port and a usb port for power (it works fine normally without sound port), it got a neat little blue light that tells me power is on the bass.
-i'm using the front port for my headset which still works just fine.
-my keyboard a razor lacorsa it's plugged into the normal sound and mic port on the back, it has a usb port i'm using for my mouse and the sound out port is being used for my table speakers. computer registers mic and sound port being used.
- sound manager tells me both mic ports are plugged and from what i can tell there shouldn't be a problem.
- i've tried plugging both mics into different ports front, back and on the keyboard in both ports, i've checked that there's power to the headset via the bass power light and by plugging my mouse into the different usb ports to check as well.

----edit----
okay just tried a really old mic my sister had, i'm getting sound through but it's so low that whistling is barely hearable. i changed back to my new headset and yelled loudly result was really low sound coming through to the recorder

----reedit----

now the sound died again and i can't get it back. the sound doesn't get through anymore.... how i hate vista
